Job summary

TechServ is seeking an entry-level Engineering Technician/Designer to join our Electrical Distribution team. No utility industry experience is required; training is provided in 2–3 weeks and you’ll learn CAD and industry standards.

After training, you’ll work with Engineers and Project Coordinators on electrical distribution, transmission, and substation design, with occasional travel of about 20% to regional sites. This in-office role offers growth into higher-level technician positions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel ~20%.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update electrical utility designs using CAD/drafting software.
• Support design of new construction, system upgrades, alterations, and redevelopment.
• Incorporate design changes, redlines and markups with Engineers/Project Coordinators.
• Prepare electrical distribution designs per client standards and specs.
• Review drawings, reports, and field information for accuracy and completeness.
• Interpret applicable design standards, codes and specifications.
• Maintain quality and meet project schedules and budgets.
• Assist with project setup and manage information in PM systems.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, Coordinators, and other Designers.
• Travel to regional project sites ~20%.
