Job Summary:

The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of ensuring quality in Growing Media and Mulch products at the plant level, including formulation oversight and testing; incoming raw material inspection, testing, and approval; and ensuring compliance with established specifications and processes. The Coordinator also manages the plant's EH&S program, including OSHA, Oldcastle, and EPA requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Oversight and testing of product formulations
  2. Inspection, testing, and approval of incoming raw materials
  3. Follow all established specifications and processes
  4. Investigate and resolve customer quality complaints
  5. Administer and maintain EH&S program
  6. Routinely inspect/observe plant equipment and activities for safe processes
  7. Prepare and submit all required reports to Oldcastle or applicable agencies
  8. Keep plant in compliance with EH&S regulations
  9. Other duties as assigned
  10. Experience with lab and testing procedures preferred
  11. Experience with safety programs and compliance preferred
  12. Some experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  13. Mechanical aptitude or experience with production processing equipment preferred
  14. Experience working with EH&S programs/agencies preferred
  15. Interest in Horticulture or Gardening is a plus
  16. Knowledge of Environmental, Health, & Safety programs and rules
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and manuals
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and overcome resistance to change
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving skills with goal-oriented mindset
  • Good housekeeping skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Work under extreme conditions (hot/cold, noise, dust)
