Job summary

United Dredging is seeking an Operator 1 to support dredging operations and equipment use. The role emphasizes learning, safety, and progressive responsibility in a heavy equipment environment.

You will work under close supervision while gaining hands-on experience with site preparation, fueling, and setup tasks. Ideal candidates have an eagerness to learn, a willingness to travel, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0–1 year of experience in equipment operation or mechanical work.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel extensively and work rotational schedules, including extended shifts and overnight assignments.
• Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training; must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required MSHA training and site-specific safety training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic support equipment (e.g., skid steers, loaders) as directed.
• Assist experienced operators with equipment setup, fueling, and site preparation.
• Monitor gauges, signals, and surrounding activity to ensure safe operation.
• Support dredging operations by following direction and performing assigned tasks.
• Perform pre- and post-shift inspections, cleaning, and minor maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work site.
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and supervisor instructions.
• Communicate clearly with team members and report hazards or mechanical issues immediately.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
