Job summary

Gator Dredging seeks a Boat Operator to act as a tender for marine construction or dredging projects. Candidates should have 3–5 years of dredging or marine construction experience and hold relevant certifications. Job description

Overview

Boat Operator - Tender who can operate and maintain a work boat in a marine construction or dredging environment. You must have at least 3 to 5 years of dredging or marine construction experience. Starting hourly pay range: $20.00 to $25.00, based on experience, skills, and current certifications/licenses.

Responsibilities
  • Operate in proximity to work areas to anticipate the needs of the crew and the Dredge Operator.
  • Prepare tools and operate boats and equipment for crew members for the work being performed.
  • Maintain all vessel equipment in good working order and ensure the vessel is clean, stocked with supplies and spare parts as needed.
  • Complete the Daily Boat Maintenance Log/Checklist (mandatory).
  • Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while performing duties and report unsafe conditions or practices following company procedures.
  • Facilitate alignment, movement of boats, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Assist in performing maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with washing and maintaining boats and equipment in proper working order.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Work as a team and fulfill other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have at least 3 to 5 years of dredging or marine construction experience.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must provide own tools besides specialty tools like a welder, compressor, etc.
  • OSHA certification a plus.
  • Boating or equipment certifications a plus.
  • A valid driver's license is required to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Must be able to work outside for the entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet).
  • Be honest, hardworking, reliable, punctual and have the attitude to get the job done.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly sit, use hands, and talk/hear; frequently reach with hands; occasionally stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; frequently up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
