Job summary

The Office of the Bronx District Attorney is seeking an Entry-Level Assistant District Attorney to begin on Monday, March 8, 2027. Attorneys gain substantial courtroom exposure early and are expected to tackle misdemeanor and later felony cases under supervision.

Applicants must meet New York bar requirements, be a U.S. citizen and NYC resident, and commit to three years of service. Evening and holiday assignments may apply as part of public service.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship as of the first day of employment.
• New York State residency as of the first day of employment.
• J.D. class of 2026 (May or December) or recent law school graduate admitted to the New York State Bar.
• Candidates not yet admitted to the New York State Bar must be eligible to practice pursuant to the practice order.

Responsibilities

• Gains substantial courtroom experience early in career.
• Handles misdemeanor cases within General Crimes or Domestic Violence; progress to felony practice after readiness.
• Develops litigation skills through hearings, motions, evidentiary proceedings, and trials under supervision.
• Commitment to three years of initial service.
• Evening, night, weekend, and holiday assignments may be required.
