U.S. Xpress is seeking a Technician I Tractor at the Chicago USX Terminal. The position runs Monday through Friday, 4pm to 12:30am, with a non-remote work setup.

The role focuses on preventative maintenance and basic repairs on tractors, including brakes, tires, fluids, and tires changes, while maintaining productivity targets. Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma or equivalent, a diesel technology diploma preferred, and at least 1 year of mechanical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors outlined in USX PM guidelines.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze).
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
