Job summary

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for entry level Deputy Sheriff. This position involves enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and serving a diverse community across Pierce County's rural and urban areas.

We offer a $10,000 hiring incentive for entry level deputies. Lateral candidates may receive a $25,000 incentive plus 80 hours of sick leave and 80 hours of vacation leave immediately. For questions, contact [e-mail].

Qualifications

• United States citizen, lawful permanent resident or DACA recipient, as applicable.
• Must pass Pierce County Sheriff's Office background investigation.
• Must meet Washington State fitness requirements and the Sheriff's Office standards.
• Entrance to and successful completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Academy as required.
• Ability to speak, read and write English as required by RCW 41.14.100.

Responsibilities

• Protect life and property and preserve the peace within Pierce County.
• Perform general duty and investigatory law enforcement tasks as assigned.
• Work in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and Sheriff’s Office policies.

Education

High School diploma or G.E.D.

At least age twenty-one (21) at time of appointment

Valid Washington State driver's license at time of appointment
