Job summary

UT Health Sciences in Kingston, TN seeks a Graduate Dental Assistant to provide chairside support for faculty, residents, and DDS students. Primary location is Pre‑Doctoral clinic with duties in other clinics as needed.

Responsibilities include room turnover, instrument prep, assisting during procedures, EMR documentation, x-ray exposure, OSHA sterilization compliance, and inventory management. Evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (transcript required).
• Entry‑level position.
• Must maintain registration as a licensed dental assistant in the State of Tennessee.
• Must have Nitrous Oxide Monitoring and Radiology Certification; proof of licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for clinical encounters with room turnover, instrument preparation, and acquisition of appropriate supplies for surgical procedures.
• Provides chairside clinical support throughout the procedure, including documentation in the EMR as needed.
• Counsels patients following surgical procedures and explains instructions as outlined by the treating dentist.
• Takes x-rays; exposes and processes x-ray film or digital images.
• Ensures the working area, instruments, and equipment meet OSHA sterilization regulations.
• Performs preventive equipment maintenance and routine maintenance.
• Ensures the emergency crash kit is properly stocked and ready for use.
• Monitors and maintains safety of nitrous oxide usage.
• Maintains necessary inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
