Job summary

The Clinical Dental Assistant at the University of Tennessee in Memphis provides chairside surgical dental assistance for faculty, residents, and DDS students at the College of Dentistry. You will assist the operator, prepare trays, and help with instruments and materials throughout procedures.

You will take radiographs, expose and process imaging, and ensure OSHA-compliant sterilization; participate in equipment maintenance and nitrous oxide monitoring. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required (transcript required).
• Radiology certification and nitrous oxide monitoring certification required (proof of licensure).
• CDA/DANB preferred; CODA-accredited program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside surgical dental assistance for faculty, residents, and DDS students.
• Assist operator at the dental chair; prepare tray and arrange instruments and materials.
• Take and process x-rays; expose and process film or digital images.
• Ensure sterilization areas and equipment meet OSHA regulations; perform routine maintenance.
• Assist with scheduling, appointment reminders, or patient outreach.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
