Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Thermal Data Center Systems Engineer for an entry-level role in the Data Center Thermal Solutions Engineering team. You will gain foundational experience in thermal design, analysis, and testing for data center cooling applications, supporting development from server-level heat capture to ambient heat rejection.

Based onsite at the Advanced Technology and Innovation Center in New Freedom, PA, you will work three days per week and collaborate with controls,

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
Heat transfer analysis, conduction, convection, two-phase.
Thermodynamic cycle analysis.
Fluid mechanics and hydraulic design.
Thermal system sizing and component selection.
CAD proficiency and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

Assist with prototype development, testing, and validation of thermal components and subsystems.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to thermal calculations and documentation.
Learn and apply thermal modeling tools, CFD software, and test equipment under guidance.
Develop understanding of the complete thermal chain from chip-level cooling to ambient heat rejection.
Support cross-functional teams including controls, electrical, and mechanical engineering.
