Job summary

Kendal at Oberlin is seeking an Entry Level Cook for their Dining Services department. This full-time role (40 hrs/week) supports the kitchen by relieving AM/PM cooks, preparing meals per recipes, and maintaining sanitation standards in a healthcare-focused environment.

Shifts vary 6a-2:30p and 11:30a-8:00p, with rotating weekends/holidays. Minimum 2 years’ cooking experience and ServSafe certification due within 90 days of hire are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in large volume cooking.
• Healthcare facility or retirement community cooking preferred.
• ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Open or close kitchen according to position.
• Assist in training, evaluations, and schedule adjustments for kitchen staff on shift.
• Produce items in quantities per recipes and maintain accurate recipe files.
• Use proper temperatures, garnishes, portion sizes, and sanitation practices.
• Track daily production on production sheets and review shortages with the team.
• Attend kitchen meetings and review production needs for the next two days.
