Job summary

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is hiring an Entry Level Cook 1 to join multiple dining venues across Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant. This FT role offers hands-on kitchen experience in a high-volume environment under the guidance of experienced culinary leaders.

The Cook 1 will assist with prep, cooking, plating, and maintaining food safety standards while following recipes and standardized methods. This position covers various venues and requires weekend and holiday availability.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
• 6 months of culinary experience OR equivalent culinary education/experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.)
• Cook food using a variety of methods (grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil)
• Ensure food is properly seasoned, garnished, and visually appealing
• Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods
• Taste food prior to service to ensure quality
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
• Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup
• Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
