Job summary

Layton Construction in Kansas City is hiring for an entry-level construction worker. You will support craft workers on project sites involved in structural construction, heavy concrete, demolition and framing, while following Layton's safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, learning on the job, and opportunities for career progression. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, read simple instructions, and adhere to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails. Ability to write simple correspondence and emails.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to apply understanding to carrying out simple one-or-two step instructions.
• Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Provide support to other craft workers on project site of structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition, and framing.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas (sweep debris, gather and discard trash, scrap iron and wood, remove snow and ice).
• Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
• Load/unload materials as needed.
• Have minimum tools associated with trade.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety.
