Job summary

FlatironDragados in the United States is seeking an Estimator to help prepare project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals. You will review drawings, incorporate historical data, assess risks with the lead estimator, prepare takeoffs, monitor addenda, and help select vendors.

A Bachelor's in Engineering or Construction Management is required, plus 1+ years of estimating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field is required.
• 1+ years of experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
• Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Developing technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and person-hour figures.
• Provide technical input regarding project risks to lead estimator for final bid price approval.
• Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and material quantity requirements from drawings.
• Monitor client addenda and advise estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assist with design review options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
• Partner with estimating team to prepare and conduct hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team.
• Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
