Job summary

FlatironDragados is offering an Estimating Intern/Co-op program for students pursuing Civil Engineering or Construction Management. The internship provides hands-on experience in reviewing proposals, drawings, and historical data to build estimates and quantify materials.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to help determine scope and contents of estimate.
• Review historical data from POs and productivity reports to develop unit and hour figures.
• Support estimating by preparing discipline estimates and material quantities from drawings.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Aids in reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to help determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Assists in reviewing historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and person-hour figures
• Supports estimating team by helping to prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Assists in calculating material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Assists with design review options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
• Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals
• Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan
• Support published corporate policies
• Perform additional assignments per management’s direction

Who You Are

Estimating Interns/Co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in a(n) Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
