Job summary

SouthState Bank, National Association in Wilmington, NC is seeking an entry-level Loan Assistant I to support the commercial lending team. You will collect borrower documentation, input data into the loan system, and help prepare loan files for closings and funding while serving as a contact for clients throughout the loan life cycle.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in banking/finance or related coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Track loan pipeline, maturities, uninsured reports, and pastdues; ensure timely processing.
• Collect and organize borrower documentation (income, credit, IDs).
• Input data into loan processing systems accurately and efficiently.
• Coordinate closings with lenders, attorneys, and clients.
• Assist with post-closing documentation and disbursement of funds.
• Maintain client communication throughout the loan life cycle.
