WesTech Engineering is seeking an Associate Commercial Counsel in Salt Lake City, UT to provide in-house legal support focusing on drafting and negotiating complex contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

The role emphasizes construction and commercial law with an in-office focus, offering growth and exposure across operations. A hybrid schedule may be possible after an initial period.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in Utah or Iowa.
• 1–5 years of relevant legal experience, especially in litigation, construction law, contracts.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilités

• Support the General Counsel and senior legal staff on commercial, corporate, and risk management matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate seven-figure commercial agreements, EPC contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, NDAs, and vendor/supplier contracts.
• Identify and mitigate risk in contract terms, regulatory compliance, business processes, operations.
• Monitor compliance in legal and regulatory matters.
• Resolve contract disputes in coordination with project management and business teams.
• Manage outside counsel on assigned matters.
• Maintain contract templates, playbooks, and internal legal guidance documents.
• Monitor and advise on compliance with relevant regulatory, licensing, and industry standards applicable to water infrastructure projects.
