Job summary

ECS Limited in Charlotte seeks a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager. No prior experience is required; you will learn under experienced staff and perform field work alongside peers, advancing in project management.

You will assist with field tasks on CMT projects, conduct material tests, and document results using our software. The role includes communication with clients and team members as you grow in responsibility.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science, Architectural Engineering, or Geology.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Interest in project management, consulting, and business development.
• Functional knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM standards.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, writing).
• Good understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with field tasks supporting various CMT projects; some office work as you learn the project life cycle.
• Field testing of materials including soils, aggregate, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt pavement, and fireproofing.
• Document site observations and results in daily reports using proprietary CMT software.
• Interact and collaborate with colleagues and clients; inform project team of changing site conditions and additional testing.
• Begin to learn how to classify soil.
