Job summary

The City of Anaheim’s Public Works Department-Design Services Section is seeking an Assistant Engineer to perform para-professional and technical engineering work, including plans, specifications, cost estimates, contract administration, and design review. Qualifications

• Knowledge of civil engineering concepts and design practices.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design support.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications and hydrology/hydraulic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and final plans, design and cost estimates for street, sewer and storm drain improvements; assist in project planning and contract administration.
• Analyze field data, perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations.
• Coordinate with City departments and outside agencies on projects.
• Assist in selecting private consulting services and prepare RFPs and evaluations.
• Provide training and supervision support for interns and staff.
