Job summary

City of Orange is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead professional engineering staff within the Public Works Department. You will manage complex projects across environmental, land development, traffic, water resources, and CIP programs, ensuring compliance with laws and City policies.

The position requires supervision of staff, coordination with contractors and agencies, and delivering projects on time and within budget while advancing municipal infrastructure goals.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering.
• Five (5) years of responsible experience in civil engineering with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of professional engineering staff in the Public Works Department.
• Oversees CIP planning, cost estimates, and budget preparation.
• Develops and reviews staff reports and presents to City Council.
• Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and City policies; manages contracts and consultant proposals.
• Interacts with contractors, developers, and government agencies to coordinate engineering matters.
