Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks entry-level Civil Engineers to join the EDGE Program, applying their engineering studies to become competent VDOT engineers. The program develops technical and leadership skills across multiple disciplines including Location and Design, Materials, Residency Operations, Construction, Structure and Bridge, and more.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Ability to pass FE exam and obtain EIT within 12 months.
• Experience in interpreting technical data and reports.
• Familiarity with roadway design principles is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret engineering data and information; prepare clear reports.
• Communicate with internal staff, agencies, consultants, and the public.
• Assist in management of projects including scope, schedule, budget and deliverables.
• Provide technical advice and training in assigned program areas.
• Support environmental, maintenance, and design activities as needed.
• Ensure safety and quality in all engineering tasks.
