Entry Level Civil Engineer

Compensation: $30.00 - $40.00 / hour

Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to help serve our connection of clients and community. This position will be primarily field based. If you're someone who has a strong 'boots on the ground' mentality and is ready to dive in to the day to day, this position is for you!

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

• Preparation of reports, construction plans, and technical specifications for projects
• Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member and assist with tasks including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids
• Perform site visits and field observations before and during construction
• Able to conduct field work, tolerate variable environmental conditions, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds, when needed
• Following corporate quality procedures
• Collaborating with design teams consisting of multidiscipline design engineers, technicians and planners
• Ensure that projects comply with local regulations and safety standards
• Maintain proper documentation of projects, including design changes, reports, and test results
• Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and software advancements
• Take initiative to learn new skills or technologies that improve project efficiency or design

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D and Microstation
• 1-2 years of internship experience providing engineering design for storm water. wastewater, transportation, and or site development engineering projects
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Course work in water resources, transportation, or relevant coursework
