Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support Registered Nurses in delivering high-quality patient care on the Med/Surg unit. The role provides direct and indirect care under day-to-day supervision and involves assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, and basic charting.

Candidate must have a High School diploma or GED, Maryland CNA registration, CPR certification, and at least 1 year of direct patient care experience.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Current Maryland CNA registration; CNA I/II allowed.
• Certified as a Patient Care Technician (PCT).
• CPR certification (Heart saver).
• PCT certification through NHA/AMCA/AAH is preferred.
• 1+ year of direct patient care experience; Med/Surg preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and safety for assigned patients under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.).
• Follow infection control practices to prevent contamination.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks as directed.
• Observe patient status and report changes to nursing staff.
• Document observations in electronic medical records.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Stock and organize patient rooms and supply areas.
• Precept new staff as directed.
