Job summary

Performance Food Group seeks an entry level Driver Trainee to learn tractor-trailer or straight truck routes, delivering food products to customers. You’ll train on safety checks, loading/unloading, and timely route execution while working with a trainer to develop driving skills and meet DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.

Responsibilities

• Attends and completes driver trainee or training program as required.
• Rides-with and assists driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
• Inspect trailer and verify loaded freight and required paperwork.
• Drive to deliver customer orders according to route schedule.
• Unload products, collect signatures and handle customer payments if required.
• Load customer returns and secure trailer doors.
• Complete daily logs of hours of service.
• Maintain clean and safe tractor, trailer and loading dock areas.
