Job summary

Rapides Parish School District RPSB Transportation in Alexandria, LA needs a Mechanic I Helper to support bus fleet maintenance under the Shop Manager/Foreman. You will assist with minor maintenance, inspections, and repairs as directed, while keeping a clean work area and writing records.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and a valid chauffeur license now, with CDL required within six months.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined in the areas of vehicle repair.
• Must be physically capable of performing strenuous work.
• Must have a current chauffeur class license and obtain a type A or B CDL within six (6) months.

Responsibilities

• Perform designated minor maintenance as directed by supervisor.
• Assist Manager/Mechanic with repairs on all board-owned buses
• Assist Manager/Mechanic with repairs on all board-owned vehicles
• Make necessary adjustments as designated by supervisor
• Assist in removing major assemblies
• Assist in bus inspections according to state safety requirements
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
• Maintain written records as required and directed
• Follow Rapides Parish School Board policies
• Perform any other duties assigned
