DS Bus South LLC in Port Allen, LA, is seeking a qualified mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain school buses and other district vehicles to ensure safe, reliable transportation.

You will perform preventative maintenance, complete service records, and communicate with drivers. A valid driver's license and CDL with School Bus endorsement (or ability to obtain) are required or preferred within a specified timeframe.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of bus, diesel, automotive, fleet, truck, or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs efficiently.
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.

Responsabilidades

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on school buses, support vehicles, and transportation equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, steering, suspension, heating, and engine-related issues.
• Conduct routine safety inspections to ensure vehicles meet federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Communicate with drivers and transportation staff regarding vehicle performance concerns and maintenance needs.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately and timely.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services, including fluid changes, tune-ups, brake service, tire maintenance, and component replacements.
• Assist with preparing repair estimates and identifying parts required for maintenance and repair activities.
• Respond to road calls, emergency repairs, and vehicle breakdowns as needed.
• Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Follow district policies, maintenance procedures, and workplace safety standards.
• Participate in required technical and safety training.
• Support transportation operations and perform other duties as assigned.
