Ascension Parish School Board is seeking a Transportation Helper in Sorrento, LA. The role supports maintenance tasks for the APSB Transportation Department, reporting to the Fleet Service Foreman and working 260 days per year as a non-exempt employee.

The position involves assisting carpenters, electricians, and bus maintenance, with duties including cleaning buses, graffiti removal, and providing courteous service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• 8th grade education or its equivalent.
• 0 to 6 months of basic work experience
• Basic knowledge of maintenance & vehicle related activities.

Responsabilités

• Performs maintenance and repair functions under the direction of the appropriate skilled personnel. These functions include, but are not limited to, cleaning buses and promptly removing graffiti from seats.
• Assists in the maintenance of buses.
• Cleans the jobsite upon the completion of the activity.
• Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers, co-workers, etc.
• Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that employee records confidentiality is assured.
• Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management.
• Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
• Performs other services as required.
