Job summary

Shop LC in Austin, TX is seeking an entry-level Broadcast Engineer I to support live broadcasts and learn modern broadcast technologies. The role offers hands-on training in broadcast, streaming, networking, and production for a 24/7 television network.

The successful candidate will gain experience maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and advancing into higher engineering roles. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call duties is required.

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent hands-on training in broadcast tech.
Basic understanding of audio/video signal flow.
Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and Windows.
Basic networking including Ethernet, TCP/IP, DHCP, and managed switches.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Curiosity and passion for technology demonstrated in school projects or hobbies.
Strong communication and willingness to learn.
Ability to work flexible schedules and on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Support installation, configuration, maintenance, and operation of broadcast equipment.
Monitor systems to ensure uninterrupted live programming.
Diagnose and resolve issues involving video, audio, networking, automation, servers, and transmission.
Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
Support senior engineers during live broadcasts and productions.
Maintain studio lighting, cameras, and production equipment.
Maintain documentation including wiring diagrams and inventories.
Record and archive broadcast content as required.
Follow established electrical and workplace safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
