Job summary

Unum, based in Chattanooga, seeks a Customer Benefit Advisor I to be the frontline contact for customers, delivering accurate benefit information and resolving inquiries with empathy. You’ll navigate multiple systems to compile data, document interactions, and uphold privacy standards.

The role is an entry-level step in a three-tier Career Path, with training and performance metrics guiding success. A strong customer-service mindset and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience preferred, ideally in insurance/healthcare/financial fields.
• High school diploma or GED required and successful completion of contact center training with phone proficiency checks.
• Ability to work with multiple systems and provide accurate, clear information to customers.

Responsibilities

• Be the first line of sight for customers, assisting via multiple channels with timely, accurate policy and coverage information.
• Meet or exceed company goals and metrics to ensure the best customer experience.
• Protect customers’ privacy and show empathy and professionalism in all interactions.
• Work a regularly assigned shift between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm Eastern time, Monday–Friday.
• Complete training and demonstrate proficiency in using multiple systems and tools.
