Maxim Healthcare is seeking an entry-level Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) in Lewiston, ME, offering paid training and part-time hours in the afternoon/evening. You will support children under 21 with autism and related needs, with no prior experience required beyond a diploma and passion to help families.

The role includes training, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for growth, plus benefits and paid BHP certification.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• English proficiency.
• Current CPR card.
• Current health screening (per state requirements).
• Ability to complete the Maine BHP Certificate within 1 year of hire (Maxim provides paid training).

Responsibilities

• Support the health, wellness, and safety of the child.
• Encourage and assist with goals related to daily living skills (healthy habits, personal care, independence).
• Help children build safe and appropriate peer and adult relationships.
• Teach skills that improve self-awareness, social awareness, and community integration.
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of progress and behaviors.
• Implement behavior support strategies as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Report suspected abuse or neglect promptly and appropriately.
• Use evidence-based techniques such as prompting, modeling, instruction, and reinforcement.
• Provide transportation as needed for appointments and community activities.
• Encourage communication, decision-making, confidence, and access to needed services.
