Hempstead Ford is seeking an entry level Service Technician to join our growing service team in Hempstead, NY. The role is ideal for someone with at least 6 months of hands-on automotive experience and a strong work ethic.

You will work alongside experienced technicians, diagnose vehicle concerns, and learn the latest technology while developing a long-term career path within our family-owned dealership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of hands-on automotive experience required.
• State Inspector License required.
• Ford Certification preferred; Previous Ford dealership experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Motivated to learn and build a long-term career in automotive.

Responsabilités

• Perform work on repair orders efficiently and to dealership standards.
• Test-drive vehicles and diagnose using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems (engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, A/C).
• Communicate findings with Service Advisor and plan additional needs.
• Provide accurate estimates of time for repairs.
• Perform warranty repairs per manufacturer specifications.
• Learn from experienced technicians and stay current on new technology.

Entry Level Service Technician

You don’t need to be a master technician today. We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the drive to grow. The day‑to‑day responsibilities include performing work on assigned repair orders, diagnosing vehicle concerns, and learning alongside experienced technicians to continue developing your skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on repair orders efficiently and in accordance with dealership standards
• Test‑drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems including engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor regarding vehicle findings and any additional service needs
• Provide accurate estimates of time needed for additional repairs
• Perform warranty repairs according to manufacturer specifications
• Learn from experienced technicians and continue developing diagnostic and repair skills
• Stay current on new technology, repair procedures, and manufacturer specifications

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of hands‑on automotive experience REQUIRED
• Ford Certification preferred
• State Inspector License Required
• Previous Ford dealership experience preferred
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Excellent hand‑eye coordination and mechanical dexterity
• Basic computer skills
• Motivated to learn, grow, and build a long‑term career in automotive
• Eagerness to improve technical skills and take on additional responsibilities
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to learn new technology, repair procedures, and specifications
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
