Job summary

GFT in State College, PA is seeking an Entry Level Architectural Designer to join the Buildings & Places group in a hybrid role requiring attendance at the State College office. The candidate will support multi-disciplinary design for public and institutional clients, with emphasis on higher education environments.

The role requires a Bachelor of Architecture, 0-3 years of experience, and proficiency in Revit/BIM, Office tools, and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• 0-3 years of experience in architectural design or related field.
• Proficient in Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• On track for licensure as architect in the state of residence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work proactively and as part of a team.
• Must be dynamic, creative, and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepares project documents including plans, details, and initial setup work on projects.
• Gathers and records product information and cut sheets for cost estimating and specifications.
• Supports studies and reports and assists with technical report preparation.
• Assists with sheet setup on drawings, schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
• Assists in reviewing and implementing redline markups and finalizing project work.
• Prepares 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in-house presentations as directed by supervisor.
• Learns basic code evaluation procedures and information gathering requirements.

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking an Entry Level Architectural Designer to join our Buildings & Places group in State College, PA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our office location. What You'll Be Challenged To Do

The Entry Level Architectural Designer will support architectural teams and fully commit to multi-disciplined design efforts. You will work on projects for a variety of public and institutional clients, with a particular emphasis on higher education environment.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Prepares project documents including but not limited to plans, details, and initial set up work on projects.
• Gathers and records information such as product information and cut sheets to be used for cost estimating and specifications.
• Supports efforts for studies and reports and assists with preparation of technical reports or sections of reports.
• Assists with sheet set up on project drawings, drawing schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
• Assists in reviewing and implementing redline markups on drawings and finalizing project work.
• Prepares 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in-house presentations as directed by supervisor.
• Learns basic code evaluation procedure and information gathering requirements for review with supervisor.
• Performs other project work assigned by supervisor during construction including but not limited to: submittal tasks, RFI’s, supplemental work including sketches, or submittal review process.

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

• Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• 0-3 years of experience in architectural design or related field.
• Demonstrated interest in architectural design through applied experiences such as: academic projects, internships, or past work experiences.
• Proficient in Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for design and technical documentation.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Ability to be on path for licensure as architect in the state of residence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work proactively and as a member of a team.
• Must be dynamic, creative, and detail oriented.

What We Prefer You Bring

• Experience working with Enscape, Rhino, SketchUp, Lumion or related 3D modeling software.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $65,000-$80,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
