Job summary

GFT is seeking a Project Architect to join our Architecture Team in New York City, NY. This role requires regular attendance at our NYC office and involves leading design development and construction document production for public sector projects.

The ideal candidate holds a New York Registered Architect credential, has 10+ years in architecture, and is proficient with REVIT, AutoCAD, and the Adobe Suite. A collaborative, multi-project environment is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture.
  • New York registered Architect required.
  • 10+ years of architecture design and construction documents experience.
  • Experience with public sector projects.
  • Experience with School Construction Authority projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IBC, NFPA, ADA, LEED and related standards.
  • Proficient in REVIT BIM for design and construction documents.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
  • Ability to work in teams and manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/assist a project team in developing architectural design and construction documents.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure coordination.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of design and product research.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress and issues.
  • Follow corporate and client standards for production and review.
  • Work collaboratively in a team or independently.
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet project deliverables.
  • Develop presentations, designs and technical solutions through all project phases.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
  • Support construction with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, site inspections and reports.

What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Project Architect to join our Architecture Team in New York City, NY!

This role follows requiring regular attendance at our NYCoffice.

What you'll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and exposure to a wide variety of public sector projects, including but not limited to K-12, rail & transit, infrastructure projects and public works.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead/assist a project team in the development of architectural design and the preparation of construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure coordination of project requirements and collaborate as necessary.
  • Responsible for product research and coordinating technical aspects of the design of a project.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress, issues and/or need for assistance.
  • Follow corporate and/or client standards for project production and review.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and manage time effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Develop presentations, designs and technical solutions through all phases of a project.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
  • Experience with construction support including review of shop drawings, RFI's, site inspection and reports.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture is required
  • New York registered Architect is a requirement for this role
  • 10 or more years of experience in architecture design and preparation of construction documents.
  • Experience with public sector projects.
  • Experience working on projects for the School Construction Authority is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and knowledge of related standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASHRAE etc.
  • Highly proficient in REVIT Building Information Modeling Architecture with experience in both design and construction documentation is required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
  • Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.

The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
