Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Architect for our New York City Architecture Team. The role involves leading design and production of construction documents, coordinating with clients and consultants, and producing renderings throughout all project phases.

Requires NY licensure and 10+ years in architectural design and public sector experience. Hybrid work environment with a comprehensive benefits package, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture is required.
  • New York registered Architect is a requirement for this role.
  • 10+ years of experience in architecture design and construction documents.
  • Experience with public sector projects.
  • Experience with School Construction Authority projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of current codes (IBC, NFPA, ADA, LEED) and related standards.
  • Proficiency in REVIT Building Information Modeling for design and docs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/assist a project team in architectural design and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors for project requirements.
  • Research products and coordinate technical aspects of design.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress and issues.
  • Follow corporate standards for project production and review.
  • Work collaboratively and independently.
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet deliverables.
  • Develop presentations and renderings for projects.
  • Support construction phase with shop drawings reviews, RFIs, and site reports.

What You Will Do
Architecture Team in New York City, NY!

This role follows requiring regular attendance at our NYC office.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and exposure to a wide variety of public sector projects, including but not limited to K-12, rail & transit, infrastructure projects and public works.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Lead/assist a project team in the development of architectural design and the preparation of construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure coordination of project requirements and collaborate as necessary.
  • Responsible for product research and coordinating technical aspects of the design of a project.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress, issues and/or need for assistance.
  • Follow corporate and/or client standards for project production and review.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and manage time effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Develop presentations, designs and technical solutions through all phases of a project.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
  • Experience with construction support including review of shop drawings, RFI’s, site inspection and reports.

Education | Experience:

What You Will Bring To Our Firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture is required
  • New York registered Architect is a requirement for this role
  • 10 or more years of experience in architecture design and preparation of construction documents.
  • Experience with public sector projects.
  • Experience working on projects for the School Construction Authority is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and knowledge of related standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASHRAE etc.
  • Highly proficient in REVIT Building Information Modeling Architecture with experience in both design and construction documentation is required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
  • Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.

The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.

Salary: $135,000-$155,000
