Job summary

Cogent Scientific, an insourced contract research organization in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an Entry-Level Analytical Chemist to support lab operations and ensure quality results.

Responsibilities include preparing reagents, handling samples, and maintaining accurate data records. A BS in Chemistry or Biology with up to 2 years’ experience is required; Familiarity with Watson LIMS, Sciex/Analyst, and Tecan automation is a plus. Positions are onsite on first and second shifts.

• Follow data file nomenclature and organizational conventions.
• Track study submissions on the analyst/customer collaboration site.
• Utilize Watson LIMS; experience a plus.
• Perform tissue homogenizations and pipetting with complex dilution schemes.

We currently have a role available for a Entry-Level Analytical Chemist.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately preparing and labelling laboratory reagents, solutions and samples, both manually and with automated liquid handlers.

• Consistently utilizing data file nomenclature and organizational conventions.

• Tracking study submissions on the analyst/customer collaboration site.

• Utilization of Watson LIMS, experience a plus

• Previous experience with Tecan automation or liquid handling

• Tissue homogenizations

• Pipetting - complex dilution schemes

• Organization skills - following protocols, communication with lab and others

• Routine stocking and inventory of laboratory supplies.

• Routine organization of samples

• Ability to follow protocols and perform pipetting activities

• Basic computer skills - excel, word and SmartSheets

Job requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

• BS-Chemistry or Biology (or related field) with 0-2 years of industrial experience.

• Sciex/Analyst experience is a plus.

• Ability and willingness to adapt to changing project needs and timelines.

• Works well both as a team and as an individual.

• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written. Ability to communicate issues as they occur.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Demonstration of excellent team player skills, very strong attention to detail, very strong problem-solving skills, a high level of learning agility, and the ability to work across functions. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the leadership and communication skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with flexibility and an adaptable approach to goal delivery.

We have multiple positions available for first shift (7am - 3pm) and second shift (10am-7pm). These are positions onsite in the Indianapolis, IN location.
