Job summary

RTX seeks an entry‑level Power Electronics Engineer (P1) in El Segundo, CA, to join a multidisciplinary team developing power conversion hardware for aerospace and defense programs. You will design, simulate, test, and integrate converters, drives, and power modules, learning from senior engineers in a hands‑on setting.

Requirements include a bachelor's in EE and internship or project experience in power electronics or testing; familiarity with SPICE, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Internship, co‑op, project team, or academic lab experience in power electronics, circuit design, or testing.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of power conversion circuits including AC/DC and DC/DC converters, motor/servo drives, filters, and power system building blocks.
• Create and update schematics under guidance from senior engineers; assist with component selection and PCB layout reviews.
• Perform basic simulation and analysis tasks (SPICE, LTspice) and support worst‑case or derating analysis activities.
• Assist in magnetics development by preparing calculations, reviewing specifications, and coordinating build/testing with senior engineers.
• Apply modern power devices such as SiC and GaN as directed; assist with evaluation, characterization, and test.
• Support EMI/EMC design and test activities, including basic data collection and setup in accordance with aerospace standards.
• Conduct hands‑on lab work such as prototype bring‑up, basic debugging, data capture, and characterization of power hardware.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, and documentation for design verification with mentorship.
• Collaborate closely with systems, digital design, mechanical/thermal, manufacturing, and integration teams.
• Assist with requirements tracing, document updates, and design review packages.
• Support root‑cause investigations by collecting data, performing guided tests, and documenting findings.
