Job summary

Bowmar LLC in Fort Wayne, IN seeks an Electrical Design Engineer I to support design, development, and documentation of commercial and military aerospace electronics. This entry‑level role emphasizes learning Bowmar processes, contributing to new product development, and supporting sustaining engineering under senior engineers.

You will gain hands‑on experience with design tools, Lean Product Development, and aerospace standards while collaborating with mechanical, manufacturing, and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, with 0–5 years of electronics design experience (internships/co‑ops acceptable); or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and PCB design fundamentals.
• Exposure to CAD/PCB tools such as Altium Designer or AutoCAD (coursework acceptable).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electronic components, PCB assemblies, and electro‑mechanical systems for aerospace applications.
• Support PCB layout activities under supervision using approved design tools.
• Review and interpret customer specifications and assist in preparing basic engineering documentation.
• Perform preliminary engineering calculations, simple analyses, and component selection.
• Support testing and troubleshooting of electrical assemblies to verify performance and compliance.
• Assist with the development of work instructions, procedures, and engineering change documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and learn Bowmar’s Lean Product Development methods.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing quality and reducing waste.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
