Job summary

State of Maryland is seeking a professional accountant to provide accounting support to the Office of Financial Services – Accounting Division in Baltimore. Responsibilities include managing accounts, reconciling cash receipts, and supporting budget preparation and year-end closing.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or 30 credits + auditing). Preference for Excel proficiency and familiarity with government accounting policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting with auditing coursework or substituted by 30 credits in Accounting with 3 in auditing.
• Experience: None (entry-level acceptable)
• Familiarity with government accounting principles and Maryland state financial policies a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, and adjust account balances including daily/monthly credit card payments, invoicing, and reconciliation.
• Prepare and release daily journal entries as assigned.
• Provide budget management support and update expenditure projections for ITCD and Fiscal Officer.
• Assist with year-end closing and budget submission activities; communicate with IT, A/P, procurement, STO as needed.
