Job summary

Enterprise Automation and Digital Systems Group, a Tetra Tech company, seeks an entry‑level Controls Engineer I to design, implement, test, and maintain automation and control systems for industrial clients in Irvine.

You will work on PLC, HMI, OIT, SCADA, and network projects across water, chemical, life sciences, and manufacturing sectors. The role is in‑office five days weekly with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering required.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Willingness to travel to client sites.
• Typical workweek of 40–45 hours with travel.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement PLC, HMI, and OIT programs.
• Support the development, configuration, and implementation of SCADA systems.
• Design and implement IT/OT network infrastructure.
• Support the design and development of low‑voltage control panels.
• Contribute to consulting, design, implementation, testing, commissioning, maintenance.
• Ensure project execution aligns with engineering practices and standards.
• Work on multiple projects, meeting schedules and budgets.
• Support project risk management and safe work practices.
• Communicate proactively with team members and management.
• Participate in client site visits, testing, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting.
