Job summary

Lone Star Park is seeking an Entry Clerk to help manage morning trainer calls and race entries. You will document horses entering, print overnight results, and distribute them to relevant departments. The role requires strong attendance, dependability, and excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The position may require evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled and requires adherence to racing rules and company policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Make calls to trainers in the morning to take entries for races.
  • Document horses entering and print race day results.
  • Assist Racing Secretary with ad-hoc projects.
  • Receive instructions from the Racing Secretary on races for upcoming weeks.
  • Work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled when needed.

Job description

General Definition:The Entry Clerk will call trainers in the morning to inform them of upcoming races and make entries.Essential Job Functions:Dependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime required.May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled.Have the ability to accomplish a multitude of duties as assigned.Adhere to company standards of performance and safety; follow company policies and procedures.Receive instructions from the Racing Secretary detailing the number and types of races to occur in the upcoming weeks.Make calls to trainers to take entries to fill races. Document horses entering.Print out results of each race day ("overnight") and distribute to appropriate departments.Assist Racing Secretary with ad-hoc projects.Other duties as assigned.Education:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years related experience and/or training; or combination.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.Responsible for fostering a fun environment.Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers.Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events.Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.Maintains a professional work environment with management and staffAble to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environmentExcellent customer service/communication skillsMust meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.Written communication skills in English may also be required.Training:Responsible GamingLicenses/Certifications/Other:Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functionsTexas Racing Commission License (TXRC)Physical Requirements:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
