Job summary

Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, TX seeks an experienced supervisor to oversee all race track activities during training hours. You will answer phones, process entries, monitor equipment changes, and coordinate with the Starter and Clocker on first-time starters and workouts.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 8 years of related experience, with deep knowledge of the Rules of Racing, strong customer service, and English reading/comprehension.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating with track officials and training staff.

Responsibilities

  • Answers phones.
  • Takes entries by phone.
  • Checks for Blinker changes on entries.
  • Grants or denies permission to change equipment.
  • Coordinates with Starter on first time starters – gate approvals.
  • Coordinates with Clocker on first time starters – workout rule – approval to start
  • Checks program proof for any equipment changes.
  • Assists with the Draw
  • Back checks weights and eligibilities; coordinates with Racing Secretary.
  • Supervises all activities in paddock.
  • Maintains schedule for post times in paddock.
  • Supervises saddling of horses & valets in paddock.
  • Notifies Stewards of any problems or delays in the paddock.

General Definition:Supervises all race track activities during training hours.Essential Job Functions:Answers phonesTakes entries by phoneChecks for Blinker changes on entriesGrants or denies permission to change equipmentCoordinates with Starter on first time starters – gate approvalsCoordinates with Clocker on first time starters – workout rule – approval to startCheck program proof for any equipment changesAssists with the DrawChecks entries for change of equipment (Blinkers etc.) prior to draw.Back check weights and eligibility’s / coordinate with Racing Secretary.Supervises all activities in PaddockChecks equipment and maintains book on every horse racingKeeps schedule for post times in paddockSchedules training for paddockChecks saddle towel number, arm number & head numbers before horses leave paddockSupervises saddling of horses & valets in paddockCalls Jockey’s to Paddock at appropriate timeNotifies Stewards of any problems or delays in the paddockNotifies trainers of horses that need paddock trainingAll other duties as assigned by management.Education:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 8 years related experience and/or training; or combination.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.Responsible for fostering a fun environment.Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers.Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events.Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.Maintains a professional work environment with management and staffAble to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environmentExcellent customer service/communication skillsMust meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.Written communication skills in English may also be required.Training:8 year work related experience and/or training; or combination.Licenses/Certifications/Other:Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functionsTexas Racing Commission License (TXRC)Physical Requirements:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
