Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver workshops on entrepreneurship, business fundamentals and financial literacy.
  • Coach and mentor participants as they develop business ideas, plans and presentations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Enrichment to set goals, learning objectives, and curriculum.
  • Coordinate day-to-day program logistics, including schedules, materials and communications.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, youth-centered learning environment.
  • Build relationships with community organizations, mentors and volunteers.
  • Support recruitment and promotional activities as needed.
  • Track attendance, outcomes and data for evaluation.

Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Inc. (PYB) was officially launched in June 2015, with a mission to create transformative opportunities for thousands of young people, especially those from under-resourced families and communities, to reach their full potential as students, athletes, and positive leaders. A diverse and impassioned group of individuals, including leaders from the grass-roots to the tree-tops, have been working diligently to execute upon this mission by building an impactful program, a robust and sustainable organization, and ultimately a state-of-the-art youth basketball and education center to enable us to provide empowering experiences to many more children, youth, and families.

Position Summary

We are seeking an engaging and dependable Entrepreneurship Coach-Facilitator to deliver entrepreneurship and business fundamentals programming for young people. The ideal candidate combines practical business knowledge, strong facilitation skills and a deep commitment to helping young people develop confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Primary Scope of Duties

Reporting to PYB’s Director of Enrichment, the Entrepreneurship Coach-Facilitator supports PYB’s Youth Entrepreneurship Academy and Youth Business Competition through high-quality instruction, mentorship, program coordination, and continuous improvement. This position includes the following functions and activities:

  • Facilitate engaging workshops on entrepreneurship, business fundamentals, financial literacy, and related topics using PYB-approved curriculum
  • Coach and mentor participants as they develop business ideas, plans, presentations, and competition entries.
  • Partner with the Director of Enrichment to establish program goals, learning objectives, curriculum, and implementation strategies
  • Coordinate day-to-day program logistics, including sessions plans, schedules, materials, attendance, guest speakers, events, and participant communications.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and youth-centered learning environment aligned with PYB’s Community Agreements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, small business, mentors, volunteers, and other program partners.
  • Support external presentations, community engagement, and program recruitment or promotional activities, as needed.
  • Track attendance, participation, outcomes, and other required data, and submit accurate information to PYB’s Impact and Evaluation team.
  • Gather participant feedback, assess program effectiveness, and recommend improvements to curriculum and delivery.
  • Follow all PYB policies and procedures, youth-safety requirements, and applicable city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Enrichment team and PYB’s mission.
Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Expertise in entrepreneurship and business fundamentals, with curriculum development experience.
  • Experience facilitating programs for young people in schools, after-school programs, summer programs, or community-based settings
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and positively mentor young people.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple activities while maintaining accurate records and strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently, collaborate effectively, and respond flexibly to program needs.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, feedback, and professional development.
  • Availability to work assigned shifts Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, based on program needs.
Program Schedule

August 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027

Clearances

All staff members must possess or obtain the following state and federal clearances before engaging in any hands-on activities with young people participating in Philadelphia Youth Basketball programs.

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check (SP4 164)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form (CY 113)
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check (Criminal History Report), if applicable.
  • Mandated Reporters Certificate
  • National Sex Offender Verification
Compensation

This position will include wages of $25/hour commensurate with experience.
