Job summary

Goldfish Swim School - Delaware is seeking an energetic team member to teach swim lessons and promote water-safety skills. You will implement the school’s curriculum, supervise safe conduct, and engage with families to track progress.

The role emphasizes flexible hours and opportunities for advancement while rewarding enthusiasm and reliability, with training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider also preferred.
• Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents; makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
• Evaluates students’ progress and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Interacts with parents/guardians on student activity and development of swim skills.
• Acts as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Uses problem solving and creative thinking to identify and resolve challenges students encounter.
• Inspects pool areas before/after each class and reports issues to management.
• Maintains and stores pool equipment properly; places/removes lane lines.
• Reports accidents/incidents to management and completes documentation.
• Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Performs light cleaning duties (windows, deck mopping, trash removal) as needed.
• Attends required workshops and in-service training outside regular hours.
• Fulfills other duties assigned by the Employer.

Summary:

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider also preferred. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred. Swimming experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended. We can certify internally if you do not have these prerequisites.
