Job summary

Peraton in Laurel, MD is seeking a Systems Engineer to shape mission-critical architectures and lead SE activities across the full system lifecycle—from requirements analysis to deployment.

You will partner with government stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver scalable, enterprise systems and DoDAF-compliant views, using modeling and prototyping to minimize risk.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related technical discipline.
  • Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Twenty (20) years of Systems Engineering experience for similar programs.
  • Experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
  • Experience developing comprehensive Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
  • Experience developing DoDAF-compliant architecture products across Operational, Technical, Systems, and Services Views.
  • Experience conducting end-to-end system trade analyses and lifecycle engineering activities.
  • Experience using modeling, simulation, and prototyping techniques to support system development.
  • Experience managing system configuration, engineering baselines, and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and Engineering Review Boards (ERB).
  • Experience performing requirements elicitation, systems analysis, interface development, systems integration, and end-to-end flow analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements and develop system requirements specifications.
  • Develop CONOPS, system architectures, and systems engineering documentation.
  • Lead systems engineering, design, integration, and implementation activities throughout the lifecycle.
  • Guide customers in defining requirements, evaluating alternatives, and conducting feasibility studies.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for integrating requirements, design, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop SE management plans, system integration plans, and test plans.
  • Collaborate with Government leadership to resolve technical issues and risks.
  • Communicate technical recommendations and project status to government customers and executives.
  • Conduct system trade studies to optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and lifecycle costs.
  • Develop and evaluate architecture views using DoDAF standards.
  • Utilize modeling, simulation, and prototyping to reduce risk and improve design decisions.
  • Manage system configuration throughout the lifecycle and participate in CCB/ERB.
  • Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies; recommend actions.
  • Support AoA efforts evaluating solutions by cost, risk, performance, lifecycle, and mission objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for requirements analysis, architecture development, system integration, interface design, testing.

  • Twenty (20) years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
  • Experience developing comprehensive Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
  • Experience developing DoDAF-compliant architecture products, including Operational, Technical, Systems, and Services Views.
  • Experience conducting end-to-end system trade analyses and lifecycle engineering activities.
  • Experience using modeling, simulation, and prototyping techniques to support system development.
  • Experience managing system configuration, engineering baselines, and associated technical documentation.

Additional Qualifications That Will Set You Apart

While not required, experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • AWS or other commercial cloud platform experience, including cloud architecture, migration, and system configuration.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based data warehouse environments.
  • Expertise in enterprise data flows, data management, and cloud storage architectures.
  • Experience providing strategic recommendations for data ingest, storage optimization, data integrity, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience integrating legacy data into modern cloud environments while ensuring compliance and reducing redundant data.
  • Hands-on experience using custom tools or scripts to search, preserve, remark, or remove data across very large datasets containing millions or billions of records.
  • Experience supporting transition and decommissioning efforts, historical data migrations, incident investigations, and customer-driven engineering activities.
  • Experience leading Agile development teams, serving as a Team Lead, Scrum Master, or facilitating Scrum ceremonies.

In this role, you'll lead systems engineering activities across the full system lifecycle—from requirements analysis and architecture development through integration, testing, and deployment.
