Job summary

Indian River State College is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, maintain, and enhance its enterprise infrastructure, covering Linux and Windows servers, virtualization, cloud technologies, and automation. You will work with Proxmox, VMware, and scripting to improve reliability and security while supporting student success.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus related experience.
Minimum of two years of systems administration or engineering experience.
Linux administration in enterprise environments.
Proxmox and VMware virtualization knowledge.
Scripting with Bash or PowerShell for automation.
Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 expertise.
Networking basics: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP.
Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, maintain server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure solutions.
Administer Linux and Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms.
Support virtualization initiatives, cloud deployments, backups, and disaster recovery.
Develop automation scripts using Bash and PowerShell.
Monitor performance, capacity planning, and health assessments.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate on infrastructure projects.
Document standards, procedures, and system configurations.
