Job summary

Erias Ventures, LLC is seeking a Systems Administrator in Annapolis Junction, MD to support IT systems, troubleshoot issues, and maintain server environments. The role requires a current Top-Secret/SCI clearance and extensive SA experience across UNIX/Windows, with emphasis on reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years experience as a System Administrator in programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required; five (5) years of extra SA experience may substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution.
• Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems; install and load OS software.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization; perform capacity planning.
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and resolutions.
• Assist users in accessing and using IT systems.

Description

We are seeking a Systems Administrator who provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance

Clearance

A current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Experience

Ten (10) years experience as a System Administrator (SA) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

• Linux Troubleshooting skills (tailing log files, restarting services)
• Fiercely independent, self-starter, good at taking tasks and running them to ground until hitting actual roadblocks
• Comfortable navigating in a terminal, running Linux commands
• Comfortable SSHing to servers, port forwarding/SSHtunneling
• Experience in supporting systems over high latency, low bandwidth, air-gapped environments
• Basic experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with network devices (firewalls, routers, switches)

Desired skills

• Basic experience using/troubleshooting ansible playbooks/roles

• Basic Scripting experience (not language specific)
