Job summary

JPMorganChase in New Jersey is seeking a Principal Architect to define and govern end-to-end architectures for critical platforms and transformation programs. You will partner with CTOs and senior leaders to accelerate delivery, embed security, and drive architectural strategy across multiple domains.

You will mentor architects, establish AI-enabled patterns, and lead architecture reviews to ensure resilience, scalability, and regulatory compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering and 10+ years of applied experience.
• Proven track record of leading architecture for large, distributed, mission-critical systems with 24x7 operations and high resiliency targets.
• Deep expertise in patterns: microservices, event-driven and streaming architectures, API-led connectivity, data mesh/lakehouse, CQRS, and domain-driven design.
• Experience with hyperscale cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh, CI/CD, IaC, observability, and platform engineering.
• Security and resiliency expertise: zero trust, secrets management, identity, encryption, chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and site reliability practices.
• Executive presence capable of influencing senior stakeholders and guiding engineering teams with clarity.
• Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-approved AI capabilities within architecture and engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Translates business strategy into pragmatic solution roadmaps and reference architectures.
• Drives decisions balancing resilience, scalability, latency, cost, risk, and time-to-market.
• Sets and enforces design principles, patterns, and guardrails across portfolios.
• Establishes AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across SDLC/toolchain practices with traceability and security controls.
• Chairs Architecture Review Boards ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory obligations.
• Builds trusted advisor relationships with CTOs and senior leaders to co-create strategy and execution plans.
• Mentors domain architects and engineering leads, fostering a community of practice and reuse through reference implementations.
• Owns target and transitional architectures for multi-region systems across data, payments, risk and finance domains.
