Job summary

Octave, Alpharetta, GA-based, seeks a Software Development Manager to lead multiple software teams in delivering enterprise solutions. You will guide delivery planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, QA, and Operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience in software engineering and enterprise software development.
7+ years managing software development teams, including direct people management and delivery ownership.
Experience managing multiple teams in parallel.
Strong understanding of Agile software delivery, Scrum, release planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement.
Experience coordinating with Product Managers/Owners to plan releases and enable delivery.
Experience managing software delivery metrics, team productivity indicators, quality trends, and delivery performance.
Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and modern software engineering practices.
Experience coordinating with QA leadership on quality planning, trends, defects, and release readiness.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead developers, technical leads, and other engineering team members.
Act as the project and delivery manager for assigned software projects and product initiatives.
Lead planning, execution, monitoring, and control of work for software teams.
Ensure teams are enabled, unblocked, and supported to deliver software effectively.
Drive Agile evolution and continuous improvement across teams, including Scrum practices and sprint cadence.
Collaborate with Product on release planning, backlog prioritization, and dependency management.
Coordinate with Product to ensure requirements are clear and ready for development.
Manage team capacity, resource allocation, workload balance, and skill utilization.
Oversee division resources including personnel, tools, and IT resources.
Translate objectives into actionable team plans with milestones and deliverables.
Assign subordinate team members and provide technical/administrative guidance.
Provide technical leadership for enterprise software initiatives.
Support high-level design of scalable, secure, and reliable architectures.
Advise on multi-tenant, microservices, cloud-hosted enterprise apps.
Sponsor Quality of Service including performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with QA to define quality plans, trends, and release readiness.
Monitor metrics like velocity, throughput, cycle time, and defect trends.
Identify risks and blockers; take corrective actions.
Coordinate with other managers on dependencies and priorities.
Support best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, secure development, and documentation.
Coach and develop team members; foster ownership and accountability.
Promote culture of ownership, transparency, and customer-focused delivery.
