Job summary

Erias Ventures in Maryland is seeking a Database Engineer to modernize security automation, data collection, and lifecycle management across projects. You will design, implement, and optimize MongoDB databases supporting enterprise initiatives and cloud methodologies.

The role requires Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance, 10 years DBE experience, and a technical degree. You will handle both relational and NoSQL databases, implement backup and high-availability solutions, and contribute to

• Ten years experience as a DBE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain MongoDB databases supporting enterprise security automation initiatives
• Support database information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities
• Analyze and evaluate system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts
• Design and implement complex database systems using queries and storage/retrieval methods
• Optimize database performance, including indexing, query optimization, and resource utilization
• Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
• Configure replication, sharding, and high-availability solutions
• Design the overall database structure to fit into the system architecture
• Create new workflows to automate existing processes and handle break/fix requests
• Lead development of database structures, parser software, and loading software
• Monitor database health, performance metrics, and security compliance
• Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation including schemas and data access patterns

Description

We are seeking a Database Engineer that will develop capabilities to shift from the current manual system security evaluation and authorization process to a new model that emphasizes automation, streamlined processes and approvals, continuous monitoring and assessment, and network data gathering across the entire life cycle of a project.

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain MongoDB databases supporting enterprise security automation initiatives
• Support database information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities
• Analyze and evaluate system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts
• Design and implement complex database systems using queries, collections, and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies
• Optimize database performance, including indexing strategies, query optimization, and resource utilization
• Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
• Configure replication, sharding, and high-availability solutions
• Design the overall database structure to fit into the system's architecture
• Create new workflows to automate existing processes as well as provide break/fix requests or updates
• Lead development of database structures, database parser software, and database loading software
• Monitor database health, performance metrics, and security compliance
• Direct fulfillment of requirements from project inception to conclusion
• Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation including document schemas, collection relationships (embedding vs. referencing), indexing strategies, sharding configuration, and data access patterns

Clearance

A current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Experience

Ten (10) years experience as a DBE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Required Skills

• Python programming exp.
• Experience with database administration, configuration, and management (relational and/or NoSQL/document-oriented databases)
• Strong understanding of database concepts: indexing, query optimization, backup/recovery, replication, and security

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB (strongly preferred)
• Experience with MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise databases
• Experience using Django or Flask
• ReST API design and implementation
• Microservices architecture
• Swagger/OpenAPI specification
• AWS, C2S or other cloud experience (MongoDB Atlas experience a plus)
• Docker containerization
• Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs

• MongoDB certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
• Experience migrating from relational to NoSQL databases
