Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking an experienced Sales Engineering Manager to lead a fast-growing team focused on Enterprise opportunities in the Southeast US. You will coach, enable, and empower your field engineers, while staying hands-on when needed.

In this role you’ll partner with account teams, drive customer engagements from initial scoping to closing, and mentor reps to advance their careers within Proofpoint. Travel 25-75% and a strong cybersecurity background are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience leading sales engineering teams in cybersecurity.
• Previous experience as a sales engineer; 4–6 years preferred.
• Strong technical background in cybersecurity: cloud security, network security, incident response.
• Proven mentoring ability and track record of developing team members.
• Solid sales acumen and ability to drive new and add-on revenue.
• Lead-from-the-front style; ready to roll up sleeves.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Coach and empower a team of experienced Field Sales Engineers.
• Lead escalations and resolve customer challenges.
• Partner with Recruiting and HR to attract and retain talent.
• Be customer facing; attend meetings with team.
• Run ongoing technical training with the team.
• Evangelize Proofpoint vision to customers and prospects.
• Engage with customers and help strategize target accounts.
• Collaborate with Professional Services and Customer Success to ensure a great customer experience.
• Travel 25-75% within the region.
